Evolution of the Windows Chronicles
Commencing in January was The Windows Chronicles. Posted on Substack was “Background Noise,” where I discuss the substantial Internet activity generated by something as simple as the game of Solitaire. On the EricN website are two new postings presenting my background in managing Windows and an introduction into the tools I use to analyze the Windows operating system. All of this is presented so that I novice can learn from this experience and apply these techniques themselves.
Before Lawrence
This past summer saw the posting in serial format the story of the burning of Osceola, Missouri in 1861. Due to the technology of the Internet, story-making is more interactive. Readers can make comments and send the author messages. New insights may actually affect the final edition of the story and there is no end to observations and questions. For that reason, an Observations page has been added to the website where users can see some of the questions and thoughts that have been proffered. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome.
The Facebook Safe Space
Generally not posted on Substack are my articles in The Facebook Safe Space. Directed to the Facebook community, this website has generated considerable traffic over the summer, with two of the links in the Top 10 Historical Reads. If you are a Facebook user you may want to visit the site.
Commenting Policy
Commencing in January was a shift in the commenting policy. Comments are now reserved for Subscribers Only. While this is the default policy on Substack, the EricN website had previously had an open-comment forum. Bots, however, have basically made this time consuming to manage and impractical. So all comments will eventually be directed to the Substack site where a person will need to subscribe before leaving a comment. No worries — subscribing is still free :)
Econ 101
Another project getting off the ground is Econ 101, a forum where I discuss basic economic principles. This will introduce to readers who are not well versed in economics concepts that they can hopefully understand.
