Regardless of the commercialization of Christmas, December is for me Advent. It is a time to reflect on what the world would have been like when there was no Christ, when concepts like forgiveness and grace were rarely considered, no Beatitudes, nothing like the “fruits of the Spirit,” where yet to be written would be “faith, hope and love — and the greatest of these is love.”
So it is that I have joined with the Advent Conspiracy, a movement afoot that seeks to recapture the true meaning of Christmas. Even as I write I am still celebrating Christmas — Day #9. Todays event is meeting new friends over pumpkin pie, and maybe a bit of Hoppin’ John.
